FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A 54-year-old woman was hospitalized after being attacked by a rabid coyote in Fall River Monday morning.
The woman was walking her dog near the South Winds Apartments when she was bit multiple times on her legs and arms, according to officials.
She was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
The coyote was later put down and tested positive for rabies, according to officials.
Anyone who came in direct contact with the coyote is asked to contact the Massachusetts Department of Public Health at (617) 983-6800. Those who were nearby but didn’t directly touch the animal are not at risk.
