WESTPORT, Mass. (WPRI) — A Westport man who police say rents out rooms to different people at his home is charged with sexually assaulting a woman there.

Aaron L. Groves III, 62, was arrested Tuesday morning after the woman reported the incident to Westport police.

According to police, the victim was visiting the Bluebird Lane home when Groves allegedly assaulted her. The woman told police she struggled to stop Groves but he continued his attack for several minutes until he eventually stopped and walked away.

The woman also said Groves offered to pay for sex with her a few days earlier, police said.

Groves rents out rooms inside his home to both men and women, according to police.

He was arraigned in court Tuesday on charges of rape, assault and battery on a person over 14 years of age, and offering to engage in sexual conduct for a fee. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Anyone with information on Groves is asked to contact Westport detectives at (508) 636-1122.
