Taunton police investigating stabbing, disturbance in roadway

TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — Two people were taken to the hospital following an incident Saturday morning in Taunton.

According to police, a patrol officer came across a disturbance in the middle of Broadway around 6 a.m.

One person was stabbed and a second person suffered unspecified injuries, police said.

Ray Judd lives near where everything happened and said he was surprised to hear about someone being stabbed so close to his home.

“I never thought this would happen here,” Judd said.

Police had the area of 73 Broadway blocked off and crime scene tape was up on part of the sidewalk as investigators worked at the scene.

“We don’t believe there’s any threat to the public at this time,” Taunton Police Lt. Eric Nichols said.

A beige colored sedan is also part of the investigation. Police put a tent over it and an evidence marker on it. There was another evidence marker on the street, partially covered by snow.

“Interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, and trying to determine how this all started,” Nichols said.

Right now, there have been no arrests.
