Taunton officer's son goes home after months in the hospital

TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) -- The young son of a Taunton police officer who's battling a life-threatening illness was escorted home Thursday by a parade of first responders.

Fifteen-month-old Bryce Derosier has been at Boston Children's Hospital since suffering a 20-hour seizure in February, according to the Taunton Gazette

Known on social media as All Mighty Bryce, the boy suffers from mitochondrial disease and needed a specialized crib in order to go home from the hospital. Members of the Taunton Police Department were able to install one at his family's home earlier this week after it was donated by Morton Hospital.

As a result, Bryce is now home with his father, Officer Jeremy Derosier, his mother Jamie and his older sister Aubriella.

In a Facebook post Thursday, the department thanked the Taunton community for their support of Bryce and his family.

"Please keep the Derosier family in your thoughts and prayers while they spend some family time at home," they wrote.

A GoFundMe page is collecting donations to help the family with medical costs.
