FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Police in Fall River are reaching out to the public for help as they work to track down a 15-year-old girl who’s been missing for several days.
According to police, Raquel Tavares never returned home after she left school on Friday.
Police said she may have ran away from home to avoid having to move to Portugal, and she’s not considered to be in any danger at this time.
Tavares could be staying with an “unknown paternal uncle” somewhere in New Bedford, according to police, and she has a boyfriend identified as Nelson Soares of Fall River.
She stands 5 feet tall, weighs around 95 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.
Tavares was last seen wearing a pink and black jacket and blue jeans but police said she may have changed clothing.
Police also noted that Tavares’ primary language is Portuguese but said she speaks English as a second language.
Anyone with information on Tavares’ whereabouts or the identity of the uncle is asked to contact Detective Sarah Reis at (508) 324-2796 or leave an anonymous tip by calling (508) 672-8477.
