ACUSHNET, Mass. (WPRI) — Police have released surveillance images of the suspect they believe stole cash from two businesses last Saturday.

Acushnet police said around 12:30 a.m., the suspect burglarized two businesses in the Acushnet plaza on South Main Street.

The suspect smashed the glass door of both MJ’s Pet Training Academy and Off Broadway School of Dance and stole cash from both businesses.

Eyewitness News spoke to the owner of Off Broadway Dance Studio, Nicole Sanders, about the incident. She said the suspect took money that their dance team had worked hard to raise so they could attend a national competition in New Hampshire.

“It was just gone,” she said in an interview Monday. “He had dropped three of the envelopes on the floor, but all of the other 16 were gone.”

Sanders set up a GoFundMe page to help her students continue to raise enough money to attend the competition. The page has already surpassed it’s $5,000 goal as of Tuesday.

Police said the suspect came to and from the scene on a bicycle.

Anyone who has any information on the incident or the suspect should contact Acushnet police at (508) 998-0240.
