FALL RIVER, Mass (WPRI) — A Fall River man allegedly threatened to kill and eat a dog during an altercation with the dog’s owner, according to police.

A 57-year-old Fall River man told police that he and his wife were walking their dog along Eastern Avenue Wednesday afternoon when they were approached by two men.

Police said one of the men told him, “better move that dog or I will kill it and eat it.”

The 57-year-old told police the two men then followed him as he walked toward his apartment building and began punching him in the head and face.

The victim was knocked to the ground and police said the suspects kicked him and beat him with his own cane.

When the victim’s wife shouted that she had called the police, the suspects walked away.

Officers tracked down the suspects, identified as Fall River residents Joshua Farias and Brian Souza, both 37.

The pair is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a disabled person and breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony. Both deny the accusations.

The incident remains under investigation.
