Police arrest suspect in early morning Fall River stabbing

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Fall River police have arrested a man who they say stabbed another man outside of a convenience store Monday morning.

According to police, a clerk at the Xtra Mart on Bedford Street called around 8:30 a.m. to report that a man walked into the store bleeding from his abdomen.

Police said the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and is in stable condition. According to police, the victim was able to identify the suspect as John Dupras and provided them with a description.

Officers took Dupras into custody without incident at his apartment on Davis Street.

According to police, Dupras and the victim used to be acquaintances and had an argument leading up to the stabbing.

Dupras is facing a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
