Mass. teacher accused of misconduct from RI

SHARON, Mass. (WPRI) -- A teacher who police say was arrested for misconduct has ties to Rhode Island.

According to the Sharon Police Department, Bradley Lengas, 56, of Cumberland faces charges of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 years old and accosting and annoying a person of the opposite sex.

Police said multiple teenage students have made allegations against Lengas, who is a teacher at Sharon High School.

Superintendent of Sharon Schools Dr. Victoria Greer sent a letter to the community stating Lengas, who was on suspension amid an internal investigation, has since been fired.

“As a school district, please be assured that our first priority is the protection and safety of our students so that they may learn in healthy, supportive, safe and responsive school environments," Greer said in her email to parents.

She also said both the Sharon Police Department and the Norfolk District Attorney's Office launched separate investigations into the alleged misconduct back in December 2018.

Lengas is expected to appear in court on March 6.
