DARTMOUTH, Mass (WPRI) — There was a happy ending to a senseless crime after a business donated to a robbery victim.
The video of 76-year old Alice Costa being robbed of her purse in a Dartmouth parking lot in broad daylight made the rounds on social media.
Police quickly captured the suspect and then a local business stepped up to help the victim.
Chris Payton, of Smoke Clean Restoration, reached out to Dartmouth police saying the company’s owner wanted to help Costa.
On Monday, police arranged a meet-up where Payton gave Costa a check, in hopes of recuperating some of what she lost during the robbery.
The suspect in the robbery, Miguel Brasil, was arraigned on charges Wednesday and was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
