ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Attleboro police are investigating after a man was shot Monday night.
According to Chief Kyle Heagney, the man walked into the police station lobby around 10 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm.
The victim was uncooperative and would not provide details about the shooting, Heagney said, but he did tell police it happened near a gas station on Emory Street and he was familiar with the person who shot him.
He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
Detectives found shell casings on the ground at the scene, according to the chief. A 12 News crew saw crime tape surrounding the gas station and a number of police cruisers in the area for several hours.
Heagney said the shooting was not a random act of violence.
