LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WPRI) — The 41-year-old woman reported missing in Lakeville Monday has been found safe, according to authorities.

Police said the woman was found less than a mile away from her family’s Cross Street home.

It took police nearly 10 hours to find the woman. Investigators believe a medical issue prompted her to leave the residence.

One resident who lives nearby tells 12 News she and her family had just returned from a camping trip as the search got underway.

“The fire department came in and wanted to look in the backyard for somebody,” she said. “They looked in a few places and when I came out front, I said, ‘did anyone look in the pop-up camper?'”

That’s when the resident, who asked not to be identified, walked into the camper and found the woman sound asleep.

“I’m just glad she was safe and had a warm place to sleep and things turned around for her,” the resident said.

The woman has since been brought to the hospital for evaluation.
