Family, friends gather to remember New Bedford teen

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) -- Friends and family will come together Saturday to honor the life of a young man who died in a multi-vehicle crash.

Masyn Bleheen, 18, of New Bedford, died last Sunday.

Prosecutors claim Jeremia Medina, 28, was driving on Nauset Street when he lost control of his car and crashed.

The car caught fire and Medina allegedly fled the scene, prosecutors say.

Bleheen was a passenger and later died at the hospital.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals on Park Street, and there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in honor of Bleheen to help fund his funeral. The family says any extra money raised will go towards local youth and education.

So far, the page has raised more than $3,000 of its $7,777 goal.
