FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A Fall River couple was hospitalized after the two jumped from the window of their burning home Tuesday morning.
Fall River District Fire Chief Matt Johnson said the couple was fast asleep when the fire broke out inside their Ray Street home.
“Both the heat and smoke prevented them from exiting their bedroom,” Johnson said.
Johnson said both the man and woman were trapped on the second floor in their upstairs bedroom and had no choice but to jump out the window.
The man and woman were taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The woman has since been released, while the husband remains hospitalized, according to Johnson.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
