FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WPRI) — A septic service’s commercial truck was destroyed by fire Wednesday after fire officials say mechanics working on it sparked the flames.

When crews responded to A&A Auto on Route 6, fire officials say a vehicle parked in front of the auto dealership was engulfed in flames.

Fire officials say the truck’s ruptured fuel tank made the fire more difficult to put out since fuel was burning underneath it.

The auto dealership also does repairs, according to officials, and the truck ignited with an employee underneath. He was treated on scene for minor burns.

While there was no structural damage to the building, the truck, owned by Fairhaven Honey Wagon,  was deemed a total loss.

The Department of Environmental Protection was called to the scene to monitor the town drainage system after fire officials say water and fuel from the fire entered the road drains nearby.
