Woman recovering from overnight shooting in Providence


PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A woman was taken to the hospital early Monday morning after being shot.

According to Providence police, the shooting is believed to have happened around 1:30 a.m. on Union Street between Washington and Fountain Streets.

Police said the woman was shot in the stomach while she was sitting in a car.

They said a friend brought the woman to Rhode Island Hospital where she is stable and undergoing treatment.

No arrests have been made and the incident is under investigation.
