PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man tried and failed to rob a bank in Providence and now police are asking for help in tracking him down.

According to Providence Police, a man walked into the Citizens Bank on Westminster Street on Thursday, February 28 and passed a teller a note.

The note demanded, “money be put on the counter quickly and no one will get hurt.”

The clerk didn’t comply with the demand and walked away, so the suspect took off without any money.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’5″ to 5’7″ with short hair and a thin build.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Providence Police Detective Ron Riley at (401) 952-4629 or rriley@providenceri.gov.
