Providence man charged with DUI after I-95 rollover crash


PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island State Police have arrested a Providence man following a rollover crash on I-95 North Wednesday morning.

Carmelo Jaquez, 48, has been charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs (BAC unknown), refusal to submit to a chemical test, and driving with an expired license.

The rollover occurred around 5 a.m. between Exits 23 (Route 146/Smith Street) and 24 (Branch Avenue). Traffic was backed up for about an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.

Jaquez was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for minor injuries and has since been released.

He is set to appear in Sixth District Court.
