PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A pro-life group marched from an Ash Wednesday noontime Mass at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul to the Providence headquarters of Planned Parenthood to pray for an end to abortion.
The group, Rhode Island Right to Life, is marking “40 Days for Life” during Lent, from March 6 to April 13, to hold peaceful vigil for their cause. At least a dozen faithful made the journey to join in praying the Rosary outside the facility.
It came the day after a Rhode Island House committee narrowly approved a bill that would establish or reinforce the right to obtain an abortion in the state, regardless of a potential Supreme Court decision to overturn the Roe vs. Wade decision. The full House is expected to take a vote on the bill Thursday.
In a flyer for the brief march and prayer, Rhode Island Right to Life pledged to “show compassion and reflect Christ’s love to all.”
