East Providence man, 56, dies after motorcycle crash on I-95

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island State Police say an East Providence man has died after crashing his motorcycle Friday morning on I-95 South.

The crash took place just before 6:30 a.m. in the area of Elmwood Avenue in Providence.

Scott Vickers, 56, was riding in the high-speed lane when lost control of the motorcycle and hit the Jersey barrier in the center median, according to police. He was thrown from the motorcycle as a result.

Police said Vickers was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
