PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence police are investigating after they say a man was shot late Saturday night.

Major David Lapatin told 12 News officers responded to Niantic Avenue Saturday night right near the Cranston line.

One man was shot and taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to Lapatin. A woman was also possibly shot in the hand, he added.

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting or if any arrests have been made.
