Providence nightclub ordered temporarily closed after shots fired incident

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Providence Board of Licenses met in an emergency meeting Sunday afternoon, voting to temporarily close a city nightclub following a “shots fired” incident.

Chair Dylan Conley tells Eyewitness News, the board used its emergency powers to order Lo Vera VIP closed for 72 hours.

Police told the board, officers responded to the club early Sunday morning for a report of shots fired outside the establishment at 1266 Broad Street.

No one was injured, but they told the board, one projectile did go through a club security member’s coat.

The Board of Licenses is expected to take up the matter again on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
