PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Officials are trying to determine what started a fire that damaged a Providence home on Tuesday.

According to Providence Battalion Chief Jason Houle, three people were inside the Hillary Drive home when the flames broke out. Houle said they were able to escape without injury.

The fire caused significant damage but was confined to the area where the fire began, according to Houle.

The occupants, three adults and two children, were displaced due to the fire. Houle said smoke detectors inside the home were working properly.
