PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are trying to track down whoever shot a teenager and toddler in a drive-by shooting that prompted a lockdown at Hasbro Children’s Hospital Tuesday night.
Police tell us the victims were in a car driving on Pleasant Valley Parkway, heading towards Dean St. when the shooting may have occurred.
An 18-year-old – now identified by police as Christian Michaud of Providence – and a 2-year-old boy were injured in the shooting.
Police said the toddler was shot in the foot and is being treated at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Maj. David Lapatin said the child is expected to be OK.
Police said Michaud underwent surgery at Rhode Island Hospital and is said to be in serious but stable condition.
Lapatin said Michaud was in the passenger seat of the car when the shooting occurred. The toddler was in the backseat.
Lapatin said the toddler’s father was driving the car and drove right to Hasbro. He said the hospital was placed under lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
Police have made no arrests in the case. They said they’re looking for a dark-colored Honda.
