PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are investigating after a Providence middle school was vandalized overnight.

Nick Domings, a spokesperson for Providence Public Schools, tells 12 News staff at Nathanael Green Middle School discovered the damage Wednesday morning.

Domings said it appears several juveniles broke into the building, though it’s unclear at this time whether they were students.

Maribeth Calabro, president of the Providence Teachers Union, works at Nathanael Greene and said the majority of the damage occurred in the front office.

“I was so taken aback by what I saw,” she said. “Broken glass, they completely destroyed the secretary’s desk and the office staffs’ materials were thrown on the floor.”

Calabro said it also appeared the vandals rummaged though the file cabinets and either punched of kicked through numerous computer screens.
