PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The violence continued in Providence on Monday as police responded to two separate stabbings within a little more than 12 hours.

A 48-year-old man was stabbed around 11:15 a.m. on Kenwood Street following an altercation at Conlan Memorial Park, according to police. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Then, a 33-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after he was stabbed around 11:45 p.m. Monday on Superior Street.

Police said the victim underwent surgery and was in stable condition as of Tuesday morning.

Investigators believe the suspect and victim in that stabbing may have known each other.

No suspects have been identified in either incident and both remain under investigation.
