PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man is in critical condition after police said he was stabbed early Saturday morning.
According to a police incident report, Investigators said the victim, who was not identified, was stabbed outside of Opa Restaurant on Atwells Avenue at about 2 a.m.
But Providence Police Major David Lapatin said detectives later determined the stabbing victim just ended up in from of the restaurant.
Joseph Karam, the owner of Opa, said the initial police report inaccurately described the location of the stabbing, and the victim was at another restaurant on the Hill.
“He was there all night long and the incident apparently they had a big fight and they threw him out,” Karam said. “We’re waiting for an updated police report.”
Karam said he let detectives into his establishment to check security camera footage that night, and there was no video showing a stabbing inside or outside his restaurant.
Police said that no one has been arrested and the incident is still under investigation.
