SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police are investigating after a Scituate man was crushed by a wood processing machine over the weekend.
According to Police Chief Donald Delaere, Robert Burton, 36, died Saturday afternoon after the machine gave way while he was underneath it.
Delaere said Burton, the owner of "Tree Guy," had been working alone on his Tunk Hill Road property when the incident happened. Police said he was caught under the machine after it fell and was later discovered by his employees.
According to Delaere, Burton was well known in Scituate and left behind a wife and two children.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified of the incident but did not respond to the scene since Burton was working on his own property. The incident remains under investigation.
