Roof of Middletown storage building gives way

East Bay

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Police were at the scene of a roof collapse in Middletown Wednesday morning.

It happened at a small storage building behind the Middletown Senior Center on Green End Avenue.

Middletown fire officials say they believe the roof gave way during Tuesday’s winter storm. They didn’t find out about it until Wednesday, when a person out for a walk noticed it and called police.

It’s unclear at this time if the wintry conditions played a role in the collapse.

Eyewitness News is waiting on a call back from the town’s building inspector.
