Police arrest Portsmouth woman on drug charges

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) — Police arrested a Portsmouth woman after officers allegedly found heroin in her car during a traffic stop.

According to the Portsmouth Police Department, officers stopped Ashley Pierce on Route 24 North after learning there was a warrant out for her arrest.

Police said during the traffic stop, officers found approximately 25 grams of heroin, Suboxone, packaging materials and a pair of brass knuckles.

Pierce is being held on the drug charges, plus a weapons charge, and will be arraigned Friday in 2nd District Court.
