PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police are investigating after they say a drunk driver hit a pedestrian with his truck Thursday morning.
According to the Providence Police Department, 51-year-old Jason Drapeau was driving in the area of Smith Street when he hit a pedestrian.
Police said witnesses tried to stop Drapeau from fleeing the scene, but when officers arrived he was there by himself.
Drapeau is being charged with a DUI and chemical test refusal.
The victim, a 45-year-old male, was taken to the hospital for chest pain and a head injury. Police say those injuries are not considered life-threatening.
