WEST GREENWICH, RI (WPRI) – Emergency crews responded to a barn fire at Escoheag Hill Road in West Greenwich Friday night.

Chief Ray Kelley says when they arrived around 9 p.m., heavy fire was seen coming from the back of the barn.

There was ammunition inside, so they had to take a defensive perimeter.

The chief says it appears as though the fire may have started due to a wood stove issue.

The fire remains under investigation.
