Coventry police are alerting the public to reported suspicious activity at the basketball courts on Monroe Drive.

According to police, a twelve year old boy said he was approached by an older man around eight o’clock Friday night.

The man allegedly told the boy that his mother wanted him to go with him.

Police said the boy instead ran away and told his parents about what happened.

The suspect is described as a white man in his sixties, heavy set, with a gray beard.  He was wearing a short sleeve white shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball hat or cap.

The boy also told police a blue Ford-150 pickup truck drove up as he was running away, and may have scared the suspect from the area.

Anyone who may have seen a similar man in the area, or has information on the pickup truck is asked to call Coventry police.
