Woonsocket police identify suspect in double shooting

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Woonsocket have named a suspect in an overnight double shooting.

It happened at about 2 a.m. Saturday at 27 Foundry St.

Woonsocket detectives said two people were shot and were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Police did not have any information on their current conditions.

Saturday afternoon, detectives released a name and photo of the suspect, 22-year-old Joshua Rojas. A police spokesperson said Rojas is wanted for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and shooting in a compact area.

Rojas had been known to the police prior to the shooting.

Police said that anyone who sees Rojas should call them at (401) 766-1212, and do not approach him.
