PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man is facing several charges, including kidnapping and sexual assault, after police surrounded a Pawtucket home he barricaded himself in for two hours.
According to the Pawtucket Police Department, officers responded to an apartment on Weeden Street for reports of a possible sexual assault.
Police said upon arrival they surrounded the apartment after being informed the suspect was armed and possibly still inside the residence.
The suspect, 21-year-old Oladapo Disu, of Providence, peacefully exited the apartment after two hours. Police placed Disu into custody without incident.
Disu is charged with first degree sexual assault with intent to commit a felony, kidnapping of a minor, using a firearm while committing a crime of violence, possession of a firearm with altered marks of ID, weapons other than firearms prohibited, obstruction and disorderly conduct.
Police did not release any details of the incident and exactly what occurred leading up to Disu’s arrest.
