Police search for North Smithfield car break suspect

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who they say has been rummaging through unlocked cars in North Smithfield.

After receiving a number of complaints of vehicles being broken into and several items being stolen from them, the North Smithfield Police Department posted to its Facebook page with a video of the suspect breaking into a vehicle.

Police said the areas impacted include Old Smithfield Road, Sayles Hill Road and Woodland Road. They urge residents to lock their vehicles and refrain from leaving valuables in them.
