WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are investigating after a 17-year-old girl was shot and killed near a Woonsocket apartment complex Wednesday night.
Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas Oates tells Eyewitness News the girl was shot on Village Road, near the Plaza Village apartment complex.
Oates said the girl tried to drive away in an SUV, but ended up hitting several parked cars in the process.
She was rushed to Landmark Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
Oates said two other people were inside the car with her when first responders arrived, but neither of them were injured.
The incident remains under investigation at this time. It’s unclear if any arrests have been made.
