PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — It was an emotional day for a Pawtucket police officer as he gave his final radio call before retiring.

The Pawtucket Police Department posted a video of Officer David Kelly delivering his last radio call. He served the city for 37 years.

“What can I say, it’s never been a job, it’s always been fun to come to work,” Kelly said during his radio call. “I’m going to miss it.”

Kelly also said in the call that during his first 10 years of the job, he was afraid to take a Friday or Saturday night off because “he was afraid he would miss something.”

“But times have changed, so has this job, and now I know it’s time to go,” Kelly said, choking up with tears.

One by one, his colleagues radioed back, thanking him and wishing him the best of luck.
