NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) — A North Providence man was arrested Monday following a chase that began in North Smithfield and spanned several communities.
North Smithfield police said officers tried to pull over a car that was driving erratically and speeding on Greenville Road, but the driver refused to stop.
Officers pursued the car through several towns until it finally stopped in Pawtucket. Police said officers then arrested the driver, 37-year-old Michael Torres, without incident.
Police said Torres was arraigned Tuesday on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, giving a false document to a public official and forgery.
The judge ordered him held on $20,000 surety bail.
