PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Crews are on scene at an early-morning fire on Middle Street that broke out just after 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Smoke was spotted pouring from the building as crews worked to get the fire under control.
The address is home to a gun and antiques shop named Lost Treasures.
According to Pawtucket Fire Chief William Sisson, the fire started outside the building in the back. It then spread up the wall, climbing to the attic and roof. Firefighters were able to contain the flames within 20 minutes, before too much interior damage could occur.
“Yes, obviously, with the contents of this building it could have been an extremely hazardous situation,” Pawtucket Fire Chief William Sisson said. “It’s an excellent stop by the crews that were on the scene.”
There is no fire damage first floor, though there is minor water damage.
Ammunition inside the building was not affected.
Three minor firefighter injuries have been reported, one possibly heat exhaustion.
