‘Live PD’ will broadcast East Providence Police shifts

Live PD East Providence Police

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Television viewers across the country will soon be riding along with the officers of the East Providence Police Department as the show “Live PD” joins them this week.

The program is broadcast live nationwide on the A&E cable television network, showing in real time how police officers patrol their cities and towns late at night on weekends.

Last summer, “Live PD” joined officers from the Warwick Police Department. Col. Rick Rathbun said Warwick will be taking a break for the upcoming season.

“While this was a difficult decision, it’s not one with finality while we assess our availability moving forward in future seasons,” Rathbun said in a statement.

A crew from the show’s production company, Big Fish Entertainment, will be in East Providence starting Wednesday night for pre-production as the department starts a new recruitment drive, now through July 1, according to Police Chief William Nebus.

The show will broadcast live this Friday on A&E starting at 9 p.m.
