WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Woonsocket have charged a Lincoln man with sexually assaulting a woman he knew last month, but he released a statement Friday categorically denying the charges.
Frank D’Andrea, 62, turned himself in to police on Sunday, and officers charged him with first-degree sexual assault for allegedly raping the woman on Jan. 23.
In police reports, the victim said D’Andrea had been harassing and stalking her.
D’Andrea was also arrested on charges from an earlier warrant, including domestic strangulation, domestic disorderly conduct and violation of a no-contact order.
In a statement released by an attorney’s office Friday, D’Andrea denied the assault.
“Frank D’Andrea adamantly denies these charges which were concocted… He looks forward to clearing his name in court,” his attorney said in a statement.
Bond was set at $5,000 with surety on Monday, with an order to have no contact with the victim. The case is due back in court May 6.
