PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — After being closed for more than a month following a shooting, a Providence nightclub has had all of its licenses revoked by the Providence Board of Licenses.

On Sept. 29, police responded to Ultra the Nightclub on Pine Street for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the male victim just outside the entrance of the club. After further investigation, police determined the victim was shot inside the club near the VIP area and dance floor.

In an emergency meeting the next day, the Board of Licenses voted to close the club temporarily until they were able to carefully review the details of the incident.

It’s unclear how the suspect was able to sneak the gun inside the establishment.

This was not the first violent incident to happen at the nightclub.

Back in March, the club was temporarily shut down by the city’s Board of Licenses following a double stabbing, though it was eventually allowed to reopen.
