SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) — A large pothole that opened up on I-195 West in Seekonk forced police to close two lanes of the highway, causing significant traffic backups during the Wednesday evening commute.
Massachusetts State Police say the pothole, located in the center lane, damaged at least 11 vehicles.
No crashes have occurred and no injuries have been reported as a result.
The center and right lanes of I-195 were closed for an extended period of time as crews worked to repair the pothole. At one point, the Pinpoint Traffic Map showed delays of at least 72 minutes prior to Exit 1 in Seekonk.
