EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — More traffic pattern changes are coming to I-195 in East Providence this weekend.
Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) plans to shift lanes on the highway in order to continue demolishing portions of the structurally deficient Horton Farm Bridge, which carries the East Shore Expressway to I-195 West.
RIDOT said it also plans to fix a structural issue on one of the bridge abutments.
Throughout the weekend, the traffic pattern will shift on both sides of I-195. At least two lanes will be open in each direction during the daytime and evening hours, according to RIDOT, while at least one eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be open during the overnight hours.
The East Shore Expressway will not be affected.
RIDOT said drivers should expect minor delays and advised planning for additional travel time.
The changes are expected to be in place until 6 a.m. Monday.
