Jazz Festival enters second day in Newport

News

NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — The second day of the Newport Jazz Festival is continuing, with its 60th anniversary celebration of jazz legend Miles Davis.

The three-day festival’s lineup Saturday includes bandleader Jon Batiste and his band Stay Human at the Fort Adams State Park.

Grammy-winning jazz historian Ashley Kahn is hosting a panel discussion focusing on Davis, who made his historic Newport debut in 1955. The panel will include an interview with Newport festival founder George Wein.

Wein has asked the trumpeters on this year’s program to perform at least one Miles Davis number.
