WPRI's Walter Cryan to be inducted into RI Radio and TV Hall of Fame

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — One of the faces of channel 12 in Providence (WPRI-TV) for more than thirty years, former anchor Walter Cryan is being inducted into the Rhode Island Radio and TV Hall of Fame with the "Class of 2019."

An official announcement was made Thursday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick by Hall of Fame leaders. The formal induction ceremony will be held at the hotel on May 9.

After graduating from Boston University, Cryan joined WPRO-AM radio in 1965. He moved over to the television side shortly after.

Among the other inductees this year are WPRO-FM morning show host Kim Zandy, WPRO-AM news anchor Bill Haberman, WWBB-FM's Tracey Lynne, WJAR-TV's Patrice Wood and Art Lake, and WLNE-TV's Alana Cerrone.
