Parents surprise daughter with trip to Disney for Thanksgiving

It's Good News

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A young girl received a big surprise Wednesday when her parents told her she was heading to Walt Disney World for the holiday weekend.

William and Jessica Chisholm of Scituate decided they didn’t want to have a typical Thanksgiving this year.

“We’ve never been on Thanksgiving so we said, ‘Hey, let’s do it and see what it’s about,'” Jessica explained.

So the couple surprised their daughter, Amber, the morning before Thanksgiving with a trip to one of her favorite places.

Jessica woke Amber up Wednesday morning and filmed her reaction.

“Good morning honey, what do you want to do today?” Jessica asks in the video.

After a few grumbles from a sleepy Amber, Jessica asks her if she wants to go to Disney World.

Amber bolted right up in bed, initially in disbelief, before she excitedly began to jump up and down when Jessica said their bags were packed.

“She was ecstatic, she was so surprised and so elated that she was going to go see princesses,” William recalled.

Jessica said this is their fourth time going to Disney World but their first time going during the holiday season.

The couple had surprised Amber for one of the previous trips to Disney World and loved seeing her reaction.

“It went so well, we decided to do it again,” William said.

Jessica said they plan to head to Animal Kingdom on Thanksgiving and will celebrate the holiday by snacking on some turkey legs. The family plans to spend a week in Florida before returning home.
