NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Police arrested a New Bedford woman Monday afternoon after they say a homeowner found she’d broken in.
The owner of a home on Pontiac Street had been notified when a burglar alarm activated, according to Det. Capt. Steven Vicente of New Bedford Police. The suspect, Jessica Silva, 27, was inside, in possession of cash and jewelry that police said she was stealing from the house.
“The homeowner kept her at bay until the police arrived,” said Det. Capt. Vicente in an email Tuesday.
Silva is charged with breaking and entering, and was scheduled to face a judge for arraignment at New Bedford District Court Tuesday.
