Furry hood is clue to armed suspect in holdup attempt

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are looking for a man caught on surveillance camera before he tried — but failed — to hold up a Sunoco gas station attendant early Monday morning.

The attendant called police to the store on School Street about 3:00 a.m., saying a white male about 5’8″ to 5’11” tall, wearing a black hooded jacket with fur on the edges of the hood.

The man had showed what appeared to be a shotgun at the attendant, and demanded cash.

The attendant instead activated an alarm. The suspect ran out and in the direction of Division Street, police said — emptyhanded. The clerk was not hurt.

Anyone with information about the suspect or his identity is asked to contact Det. Richard Laforest of the Pawtucket Police Dept. at (401) 727-9100, extension 761.
